Open mind, open heart

"You will find, that when you have someone to love, that the face is less important than the brains, and the body is less important than the heart. You will also find that it is no great tragedy if your love is not reciprocated. You are not doing it to be loved back. Its value is to inspire you. Finally, you will find that there is no half-measure when it comes to loving someone. You either don't, or you do it with every cell in your body, completely and utterly, without reservation or apology. It consumes you, and you are reborn, all the better for it."

It's not pathetic to be kind to someone who does not reciprocate with the same measure of kindness. You are not stupid. You are not begging for their attention. You do so, because you believe in giving with no expectations for returns, and loving not for the sake of being loved back. You don't help a blind lady cross the road because you want something in return from her. You don't donate money to a beggar because you want him to be thankful for you. The most you want from them is a smile on their faces. And the rush of happiness from within yourself when you have done something good for your fellow human beings. So, never ever let anybody question your intentions. Never let their scornful opinions bring you down. You are accountable only to yourself. 

So what if people do not reciprocate. So what if they do not appreciate your efforts. Does that make you any lesser? Their inadequate response has nothing to do with you. It does not make you any less beautiful and kind-hearted. It does not make them mean and ungrateful too. Nobody owes each other anything. If it is supposed to mean anything at all, it only means that your souls do not complement. And you will eventually meet one that does. Stay strong and keep going.
