“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.” ― Dalai Lama XIV
Kindness is an outright expression of patience and understanding towards people. When you are kind, you radiate positive energy everywhere you go. You make everybody happy and in turn, you make yourself happy too.
"You happy, I happy, everybody happy."
Hahahaha I rmb giving out this speech in Secondary 2 in front of the WHOLE school during morning assembly. It happened so, because I picked up somebody's phone on the bus, made the effort to contact the person's mum and waited for her to arrive at Bukit Batok MRT station. I didn't think she would be so appreciative as to write a letter to my school to thank me???? Kindness begets kindness :')
I was so afraid when my discipline mistress approached me one fine afternoon.
Her: "Were you wearing a centaur house shirt on the date of ..."
Me: /shit is it she catching me for wearing improper attire outside school/
/SHOULD I LIE/
/OK LIE/
"err..yeah."
Wanna be a badass and lie but..I ended up blurting the truth. I really thought she's gonna punish me you know!! Because we're supposed to dress in proper pinafore (my school uniform) at all times and I was known to be that rebellious tomboy. LOL. Then, it turned out that I received a letter of commendation from the the public. Mrs Look, the DM, wanted me to spread a message on kindness to the whole school, so I did...with my very broken English...that cracked many up. Unsurprisingly.
So, yeah, back to the point on kindness. It has been a recurring food-for-thought topic for me. I always think that being smart is a gift but being kind is a deliberate choice you have to consciously make everyday till it becomes a habit. I learnt a lot about kindness from my internship. I learnt to always choose to be kind above yourself because when you do that, things become much easier for everyone. It really really helps to keep my temper in check :-) It keeps me grounded. So I guess you can call me Angelichyi now? Hahaha bhb.
However sometimes, it also takes harshness to be kind to someone.
