LIVE FOR THE LIVE MUSIC

If you think you know a song by heart from its studio version, you think wrong.

The real deal is always the live one.

It makes you feel so a-liveeeeeeee!

I have always loved concerts man :D You never leave a concert without being drenched and feeling all pumped up and in love with the performers!! It's sooooo different from just listening to songs on your headphones or watching MVs at home. The togetherness, the feel of living in the moment and creating memories with your company, the band and the audience at large, are what make the experience so special :-) So never ever think it's a waste of money to attend one! You may just get inspired by what you go through! Like I did :D

We waited for 1.5hr before The Script came onto the stage. The technical errors remained unresolved but heck it. Danny asked us to give our finger to the screen and together, the concert echoed "Fuck you screen". Haha see! My point on togetherness! It was really cool to see people all around us standing up and dancing along when the music of certain songs started playing. Could really tell the popularity of the songs from their reactions. For example, Breakeven. People - old or young, ugly or pretty, fat or skinny - who were sitting down immediately leapt up and began to wave their hands. The look of excitement on their faces was so precious. And everybody simply shouted their hearts out: What am I supposed to do when the best part of me was always you~ What am I supposed to say when I'm all choked up and you're okay~ WoW. I can hear the hearts of a million soul shattering all over again. Deafening.

Of course they have more than one good song! :-) Here are a few songs that I really like from their new and old albums heh.

1) Man On A Wire

'Cause I feel like I'm walkin' on a tightrope
My heart is in my throat
I'm counting on high hopes to get me over you~

Haha I always love preludes to songs! You know, the small speech the performers make and get everyone psyched when they momentarily realise what song is about to come on?? The prelude to "Man On Wire" was rather good :) Mark the Botak began by saying this song was inspired by a French dude who came to New York City in 1974 (wow I can remember!) and walked on a tight rope between two buildings, like literally. It got the band wonder, hmph just what gave this dude that sort of courage?

2) Nothing

And my mates are all there trying to calm me down
'Cause I'm shouting your name all over town
I'm swearing if I go there now
I can change her mind, turn it all around

She said nothing (nothing, nothing)
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh, I got nothing (nothing, nothing)
I got nothing (nothing, nothing)
Oh, I wanted words but all I heard was nothing
Oh, I got nothing (nothing, nothing, nothing)

This song was so epic! Danny asked for a phone from the audience at the mosh pit and called her ex!! He went "Hi, is this Dan (name of ex LOL)? We have a song for you!" and..they started jamming!! Throughout the song, Danny modified the lyrics from "I've got nothing" to "He's got nothing". Haha kinda implying it's his loss for ending the relationship.

I was just wondering "omg, what if the ex were at the concert too? zhijie call him up the stage and do public shaming!!" Hahaha. But wait..what if she was the one who broke his heart? Malu sia LOL.

Nearing the end of song, Danny got everybody in the stadium to 1, 2, 3 shout "GOODBYE ASSHOLE!" Then, Danny asked him "Hey Dan, are you still on the phone?" And later on Danny told us his reply was "err..yea.." And Danny laughed to himself "Classic".

3) Six Degrees of Separation

You hit the drink, you take a toke
Watch the past go up in smoke, ye
Fake a smile, yeah, lie and say that
You're better now than ever, and your life's okay
Well it's not, no
You're doing all these things out of desperation
Ohhh ohhh
You're going through six degrees of separation

This song came on when the screen finally started working. Hahaha. And it flashed nice snippets of MV scenes. Well, The Script's songs are kinda similar right? Always them being the ones who are hurt and still in love with their exes LOL. But, they are truly good breakup songs. Haha like you have this handful of relatable songs to accompany you through your heartbroken days.

4) If You Could See Me Now

Take that rage, put it on a page
Take the page to the stage
Blow the roof off the place
I'm trying to make you proud
Do everything you did
I hope you're up there with God saying "That's my kid!"

Aww this song is dedicated to their parents who are not around anymore :') Very touching, yes. It reminds me to cherish my own parents now that they're still with me. Such reminders are especially necessary for someone like me who loves to travel around and see the world. I do forget how fragile and unpredictable life is sometimes..

5) It's Not Right For You

She said, "Is this the life you've been dreaming of
Spending half the day away from the things you love?
It's not too late to do something new."

She said, "It's hard enough trying to live your life.
But not following your dreams made you dead inside.
If you don't love what you do."

It's not right, it's not right for you
If you even have to think about it
It's not right, it's not right for you
If you really have to think about it
You got one life to love what you do

I can't find a good live version of this song..but it was well-performed in the concert! The "woh-oh-woh" became a chant LOL, for us to call out to The Script. There are more songs but these are the ones that I would like to share with you. I'm sure you have heard of "Hall of Fame" and "Superheroes" which are both inspiring and encouraging!!

It's always the interaction between the performers and the audience that makes the concert so special :) Sharing your great love for music in the same space is a special moment indeed. Which is why..keke I'M SO LOOKING FORWARD TO V FESTIVAL!!!!!

LOOK AT THE LINEUP FOR THE FIRST DAY YO!!! Doom zi Doom zi with Calvin Harris in da house..followed by sad breakup songs by The Script who can't be moved.. and a recap of "fifty shades of grey" with Ellie Goulding's "Love me like you do".. And what, KODALINE?!?!?!?! *o* Hahahaha that's damn gay of me but, please, who can control such excitement?! Can you imagine watching this live...

Kodaline - All I want @ Glastonbury Festival

I would die to watch this live.

I would really die...like melt and die...I mean it. His soulful voice and the ensemble of music totally envelop me. As you can see, it was raining but the crowd was undeterred and still enjoying themselves thoroughly!! And look at how the band engaged the audience with minimal speech!! He did not have to tell them to sing along. They just did so on their own from 4:52 to 5:22 when he suddenly stopped singing. This. Is. True. Art.

Words are not really needed man. It's the way they rearrange the song in a manner that's different from the studio version by infusing elements of surprise. Like from 5:50!!!!! He said "Have a great weekend" and it seemed like the song was gonna end BUTTTTTTT IT RESURRECTED AT 6:22!! When the drummer started beating the rollup to climax *v* Omg...dies..........................I sound like a nerd analysing every detail but I DON'T CARE!!!!!!!

I am so going to catch them live.

And they are so going to sing this:

Kodaline - The One (Live at Ocean Way)

This is my favourite version of the song thus far!! Way better than the studio version :') The way his eyebrows crease..and how the band immerse themselves in jamming the song. There's a period of time I listened to this song on repeat everytime I plugged in. Hahahaha. Come on, I bet you did/do too.

Yep it has become a ritual to youtube the live version of a song immediately when I take a liking on its studio version.

I love music <3 I love live music <3 Can't wait for August <3 Can't wait to attend more concerts and music festivals!! <3 ahhhhhhh. SO PUMPED UP ALREADY. It's a really awesome experience all human beings must go through in their lifetime.

Hope you have yours soon! :)
